On May 1, 2023, at approximately 2 p.m., 68-year-old Israel Lugo was fatally shot near the intersection of West New and North Market Streets in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Lugo, who was deaf and mute, was discovered lying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead after being transported to Lancaster General Hospital. An autopsy confirmed that he sustained gunshot wounds to the neck, chest, and forearm, and his death was ruled a homicide.
