On a Thursday afternoon, June 22, 2023, tragedy struck on the 700 block of East Locust Avenue in Philadelphia. Responding to a call at 2:04 p.m., police officers discovered a grim scene with three individuals having been shot. Among the victims was Riley Darden, a 47-year-old Black male.
Darden, along with the two other victims, 12-year-old Laron Williams and 30-year-old Khalif Chamber, had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
All three were rushed to Albert Einstein Medical Center for emergency treatment. Despite the efforts of the medical personnel, all three victims, including Darden, succumbed to their injuries and were pronounced deceased.
The investigation into the triple homicide remains ongoing. As of now, the case is considered an unsolved murder. Detectives are actively seeking information from the public that could lead to the identification and apprehension of any suspects involved in the shooting. The Philadelphia Police Department has made a public plea for anyone with even the smallest detail to come forward to assist in bringing closure to the families of the victims.
