On August 1, 2023, at approximately 3:12 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to a shooting incident on the 3800 block of I Street. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Eric Cruz-Romero lying on the sidewalk, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The officers immediately transported him to Temple University Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition. Despite the medical team's efforts, Cruz-Romero succumbed to his injuries later that night.
