On a Thursday afternoon in South Philadelphia, the life of 21-year-old Khalil Lamont Williams-Huskey, a Black/African American male, was tragically cut short. On March 5, 2020, at approximately 1:26 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers were called to the 2100 block of Carpenter Street. There, they found Williams-Huskey suffering from a gunshot wound to the head.
Despite the immediate response and efforts of medical personnel, he was pronounced deceased that afternoon.
Born and raised in South Philadelphia, Khalil was the fourth of six children and was remembered by his family as a loving son, brother, and uncle. He had attended Chester A. Arthur School and Delaplaine McDaniel School, where he was consistently on the honor roll. His family described him as unarmed and someone who would not have been in the area if he had known it was unsafe.
The investigation into Khalil Williams-Huskey's death remains ongoing, and as of now, the case is unsolved. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting. Detectives from the Philadelphia Police Department are urging anyone with information to come forward and have made public appeals for assistance from the community. To encourage tips, the family has also been working to put together a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible for his death. The police department continues to ask for the public's help in bringing a measure of justice to his grieving family and friends.
