The Richmond Police Department responded to a call at approximately 11:15 p.m. in the 5700 block of Thorndale Lane, where they discovered him. He was swiftly transported to a local hospital, but he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The cause of his death was later confirmed by the Medical Examiner to be the gunshot wound.
At the time of his passing, Davon was a student at ECPI University and an employee at Performance Food Group, building a future for himself after his dedicated service to his country. His military career included tours in Afghanistan, Germany, and Kuwait, and he was a decorated veteran, having earned the Afghanistan Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. His death sent ripples of grief through his community, where he was remembered as a beloved member.

The Richmond Police Department arrested and charged 28-year-old Charles Vick IV of Chesterfield in connection with Twitty's death.
