Robert Leon Walker, Jr., a 20-year-old Black male from Richmond, Virginia, was killed in the early evening of November 17, 2017 when he was found shot to death in the driveway of a residence on the 2000 block of South Kinsley Avenue. He was discovered by authorities after gunfire was reported in the neighborhood, and his body showed he had suffered fatal gunshot wounds, ending his young life in a sudden act of violence that shook his family and community.
Friends and relatives remembered Walker as a beloved son and caring young man who was known affectionately by the nickname “Rabbit Rabbit,” someone who would help others and was cherished by those close to him. His obituary noted the deep grief felt by his family, including his parents and siblings, and the promise of a funeral held in his honor days after his passing.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Richmond police launched an investigation that ultimately led to the arrest of a suspect in connection with Walker’s death. Alfonzo McElroy Jr. was charged with first-degree murder in the killing, and the case moved through the legal system over the following months.
