In the early evening of a Wednesday in September 2024, Mario Olivera, a 24-year-old man, was sitting on the front porch of his mother's home in Philadelphia's Kensington neighborhood, cradling his one-year-old son. What should have been a peaceful moment was shattered when two individuals on a scooter ambushed him, opening fire and striking Olivera multiple times in the head and thigh.
