In the early evening of a Saturday in North Philadelphia, tragedy struck at the intersection of West Huntingdon and North Chadwick Streets. It was there, at approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 10, 2025, that 60-year-old James Bigelow, a male resident of the city, was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Emergency responders rushed him to Temple University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe.
He was pronounced dead at 6:50 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed a brazen act of violence. At least seven spent shell casings were recovered from the scene, a testament to the intensity of the attack that claimed Bigelow's life. Witnesses reported seeing the shooter flee the area in a dark-colored SUV. In a promising lead, that vehicle was later discovered abandoned near 21st and Nedro streets; however, it was found empty, and the suspect remained at large.
