On October 20, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Wilkes-Barre police responded to reports of a shooting at the Sherman Hills housing complex on Coal Street. Upon arrival, officers found 30-year-old Kyle Declet unresponsive, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was immediately transported to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
