In the early evening of January 12, 2024, the quiet of a street in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood was broken by the sound of a vehicle crashing into a house. When Pittsburgh police responded to the scene on Carver Street around 7 p.m., they discovered a grim scene inside the car. Two men were found unconscious, both having sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
The victims were pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 7:10 p.m.
One of the men was identified by the Allegheny County Medical Examiner as 26-year-old Terrance James Ray Allen, a Black/African American man from Pittsburgh. The second victim was 27-year-old Antonio Smith of McKeesport. The incident was quickly determined to be a double homicide, and an investigation was launched into the violent deaths of the two young men.
Terrance was remembered as a father, son, brother, cousin, and friend. He was the oldest of five siblings and left behind a 3-year-old daughter named Khloi. Tragically, his death marked the second son his mother had lost to violence within a single year. In the wake of his death, a GoFundMe campaign was started to help with his funeral expenses.
As of early 2026, the investigation into the murders of Terrance Allen and Antonio Smith remains ongoing. Pittsburgh police have not publicly released any information regarding potential suspects, and no arrests have been made in connection with the double homicide. Authorities have continued to urge anyone with information about the case to come forward to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
