Ricardo Tobia, a 71-year-old male of Italian ethnicity, was found dead in his home in the 500 block of Kirk Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA, on July 7, 2018. Tobia, a longtime voice instructor at Point Park University, was brutally murdered by his roommate, Joseph Martin, 37. Martin pleaded guilty but mentally ill to third-degree murder, admitting to stabbing Tobia multiple times, nearly decapitating him, and shooting him in the head. Tobia's dog was also killed in the incident.
