In the afternoon hours of May 3, 2024, tragedy struck inside a corner grocery store in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, forever altering the lives of a local family. On that Friday, at approximately 2:20 p.m., Christian Spencer Watt, a 27-year-old Black male affectionately known to his loved ones as 'Man-Man,' was inside Antonio Grocery on North 6th Street when he was fatally shot.
Despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, Watt succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.
Christian, born in Harrisburg, was a man who had the natural ability to light up any room he entered. He was educated within the Harrisburg School District and later at the Glen Mills School, where he excelled in wrestling and powerlifting, earning numerous awards in both sports. His fearless heart and wonderful smile were cherished by his family and friends. He was known for making friends easily wherever he went. He leaves behind a son, his parents, and numerous siblings and other relatives who remember him fondly.
The investigation into the violent death of Christian Watt was intensive. The Harrisburg Police Department diligently gathered evidence and interviewed witnesses in the days following the shooting. Their efforts led to a significant development on May 10, 2024, when authorities arrested 31-year-old Jerome Coleman Jr. in connection with the homicide. As of late 2024, the legal case against Coleman was proceeding through the judicial system. In the wake of this tragedy, the local community, led by organizations like Men United Standing Together, came together to address crime and enhance safety in the Governor's Square neighborhood, demonstrating their resolve to create a more secure environment for their children and families.
