On the night of May 26, 2024, 55-year-old Tonya Shelton was fatally shot near her residence on the 2900 block of West Wishart Street in North Philadelphia. At approximately 11:15 p.m., Philadelphia Police officers responded to reports of a shooting and found Shelton suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
