On October 2, 2023, a tragic incident unfolded in Philadelphia's Lawncrest neighborhood, resulting in the death of 63-year-old Denise Snead-Doram. Early that morning, police responded to reports of a shooting at a residence on the 6100 block of Shelbourne Street. Upon arrival, they discovered three individuals fatally shot in the head: Snead-Doram; her husband, 61-year-old Gregory Doram; and 42-year-old Nina O'Brien.
A fourth victim, a 43-year-old woman identified as Snead-Doram's daughter, sustained a gunshot wound to the eye but survived and was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
The suspect in this quadruple shooting was identified as 41-year-old Jahad Snead, the son of Snead-Doram and Doram. According to police reports, Snead fled the scene in a blue Honda Pilot. Approximately three hours after the initial incident, officers located the vehicle in the East Mount Airy section of Philadelphia. During an attempted traffic stop, Snead fired at least one round at the officers, who returned fire, striking him. Snead was subsequently pronounced dead at a hospital. One officer sustained minor injuries from broken glass during the exchange.
The motive behind Snead's actions remains unclear, and the investigation is ongoing. This tragic event has left the community in shock, as neighbors and family members grapple with the loss of their loved ones. Authorities continue to gather information to understand the circumstances leading up to the shootings.
