Anastasiya Stangret, a 22-year-old White woman from Philadelphia, was found dead late on June 23, 2024, in an overgrown vacant lot on the 4700 block of Griscom Street in Frankford, a grim discovery made just after 10 p.m. Her remains were concealed beneath wooden pallets, and investigators said she had been shot once in the head. By the time police found her, her body was already in an advanced state of decomposition, which immediately made the case harder to solve and, for a time, left even the most basic question unanswered: who she was. Her family did not know what had happened to her, only that she had gone silent in June after they had been making plans together not long before her mother’s birthday on June 18.
