In the early morning hours of October 2, 2023, the quiet of a Philadelphia neighborhood was shattered by a brutal act of violence that claimed the life of 42-year-old Nina O'Brien. The tragic events unfolded inside a home on Shelbourne Street in the Lawncrest section of the city. O'Brien, along with two other individuals, Denise Snead-Doran, 63, and Gregory Doran, 61, were fatally shot.
A fourth female victim was also shot but survived her injuries.
The sole suspect in the quadruple shooting was quickly identified by authorities as 41-year-old Jahad Snead. Investigators determined that the shooting was a domestic incident, with the victims being relatives of the gunman. Snead was the son of Denise Snead-Doran. Following the shooting, Snead fled the scene, prompting a search by law enforcement.
Hours later, police located Snead in a vehicle in the East Mount Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia. When officers attempted to apprehend him, Snead fired at them, leading to an exchange of gunfire. In the ensuing shootout, Jahad Snead was fatally wounded by police. An officer sustained minor injuries from broken glass during the confrontation.
