On June 4, 2024, 65-year-old Patricia Shinn was fatally shot in her backyard on the 7100 block of Montague Street in Philadelphia's Mayfair neighborhood. The incident occurred shortly before noon, when neighbors reported hearing gunshots following a heated argument between Shinn and her neighbor, 64-year-old William Pulver. Upon arrival, police found Shinn with multiple gunshot wounds; she was pronounced dead at the scene around 12:18 p.m.
