On September 18, 2024, 13-year-old Alaysia Smith was fatally shot inside a residence on the 2800 block of North Bailey Street in North Philadelphia. Responding to reports of a shooting around 7:30 p.m., police found Alaysia unresponsive with a gunshot wound to her chest. She was transported to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead shortly after 8 p.m.
