On July 21, 2024, at approximately 2 a.m., a mass shooting occurred during an unsanctioned block party on the 1200 block of North Alden Street in West Philadelphia. Among the three fatalities was 29-year-old Rashie Jones, who was attending the gathering alongside his older brother, 33-year-old Akil Jones, and 23-year-old friend, Sekayi Robinson; all three were fatally shot during the incident.
