Diamond Brown, a 28-year-old Black/African American woman from Philadelphia, was killed in the early morning hours of Friday, July 26, 2024, along the 3800 block of Kensington Avenue in Philadelphia. Police were called to the scene at about 5:54 a.m. for a reported shooting and found Brown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The violence unfolded on a stretch of Kensington Avenue where officers arrived to find her gravely injured, and rather than waiting for an ambulance, police transported
her to Temple University Hospital.
Brown did not survive. She was pronounced dead at Temple University Hospital at about 6:50 a.m., less than an hour after officers first responded. Reports described the shooting as occurring at or near a property on Kensington Avenue, and authorities treated the case as a homicide from the start.
Philadelphia police later identified 61-year-old Leroy Robinson as the suspect in Brown's killing. Robinson surrendered to police on Sunday, July 28, 2024, two days after the shooting. After the investigation by the Philadelphia Police Department's Homicide Unit, he was charged in connection with Brown's death.
Robinson was accused of fatally shooting Brown and was charged with murder.
