On the morning of April 30, 2025, 33-year-old Latina woman Jaylisa Quinones-Pinet was fatally shot in the Juniata Park neighborhood of Philadelphia. The incident occurred around 9:23 a.m. on the 1500 block of East Luzerne Street, where police found Jaylisa and a 38-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jaylisa had sustained several gunshot wounds to her torso and was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to Temple University Hospital. The male victim was hospitalized in critical condition.
The suspect, 56-year-old Deiby Rivera Gonzalez, is wanted in connection with the shooting. Authorities have described Rivera Gonzalez as armed and extremely dangerous. He was last seen driving a maroon 2017 Toyota Highlander. Investigators have characterized the motive as domestic in nature. Rivera Gonzalez, identified as a Pentecostal pastor by local sources, allegedly confronted his ex-girlfriend near a school before proceeding to the residence on East Luzerne Street, where the shooting occurred.
Jaylisa Quinones-Pinet was born on February 13, 1992, in Puerto Rico. She worked as a housekeeping manager for various hotels in Syracuse and was also employed by Amazon. She is survived by her three children, Jayri Alexis Carrasquillo, Alexis Carrasquillo, and Arian Ferrer Quinones; her mother, Alicia Pinet; her father, Samuel Quinones-Escobar; her stepfather, Hector L. Escobar; and her brother, Jaysam Quinones-Pinet. Funeral services were held on May 9, 2025, at Farone & Son Funeral Home in Syracuse, New York, followed by burial at Assumption Cemetery.
As of now, Deiby Rivera Gonzalez remains at large. The Philadelphia Police Department urges anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact the Homicide Unit at 215-686-3334 or submit a tip anonymously at 215-686-TIPS. Rivera Gonzalez is considered armed and dangerous, and the public is advised not to approach him.
