On the evening of Halloween in 2022, a tragic event unfolded on the 200 block of West Ontario Street in Philadelphia, resulting in the death of Sayon Brown. Brown, a 27-year-old Black male who resided on West Allegheny Avenue, was found by Philadelphia Police officers at approximately 8:17 p.m., having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency medical services transported him to Temple University Hospital, but his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced deceased.
The
violence of that night did not end with Brown. A second individual, 26-year-old Jose Figueroa, was also discovered at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds. Police officers rushed him to the same hospital, but he too succumbed to his injuries and died that night. A third victim, a 22-year-old Black female, managed to get to Temple University Hospital by a private vehicle. She had been shot in both of her legs and was listed in stable condition.
In the wake of the shooting, the Philadelphia Police Department has been actively investigating the double homicide of Sayon Brown and Jose Figueroa. However, the case remains an unsolved murder. Detectives are urging the public for assistance and have asked anyone with information to come forward to help bring those responsible to justice. At this time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the shooting.
