In the heart of Center City, Philadelphia, a sequence of events unfolded on a Friday evening that ended in the tragic death of 33-year-old Lauren Jardine. On what was reportedly an early evening in September, Jardine was on the 1200 block of Chestnut Street when she observed a man, later identified as 45-year-old John Kelly, in a heated argument with his girlfriend outside a 7-Eleven. Kelly was allegedly brandishing a screwdriver during the dispute.
