Around 9:40 p.m., the home was riddled with a spray of bullets, one of which struck Ramonita in the chest.
The barrage of gunfire, with at least 20 shots fired, turned a place of family and safety into a scene of chaos and heartbreak. Authorities believe three men exited a light-colored Chevrolet Impala and opened fire on the residence. It is thought that the intended target was a male relative who was also in the house at the time. Another family member, a 23-year-old cousin, was also struck by the gunfire, sustaining a non-fatal wound to her hand. First responders rushed Ramonita to Temple University Hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries that night.
Ramonita was remembered by her family as a goal-oriented and hardworking individual with aspirations of opening a salon with her sister and venturing into real estate. She was described as fun and outgoing, with a contagious smile and a big heart. In the wake of her devastating and senseless death, her family has been left to grapple with an immense loss, remembering a young woman who was on the cusp of building her future.
The investigation into the shooting led to a significant development nearly a year later. On December 1, 2022, a suspect was arrested in connection with the murder of Ramonita Jusino.
