On a warm summer evening in Philadelphia, a 29-year-old woman named Tylesha Watson was enjoying a barbecue with her friends and family. The gathering took place on the 1800 block of Harrison Street on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. The festive atmosphere was shattered at approximately 8:14 p.m. when gunfire erupted.
A gray Chevrolet Impala, driving westbound on Harrison Street, became the source of the sudden violence. Occupants of the vehicle began shooting at a group of people on the block.
During the chaos, a stray bullet struck Tylesha in the back. She was rushed to Temple University Hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after her arrival. Police believe that at least 13 shots were fired from multiple firearms.
Tylesha Watson, a resident of Kensington, was an innocent bystander in a senseless act of violence. She was a female who found herself in the wrong place at the wrong time, her life tragically cut short while surrounded by loved ones, including several children.
