On August 12, 2024, 17-year-old Antoine M. Byers Jr., a former student of the Steelton-Highspire School District in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, was fatally shot near the intersection of 18th and Regina Streets. Police responded to reports of a shooting around 6:30 p.m. and found Byers with multiple gunshot wounds; he was pronounced dead at the scene.
