In the early evening of April 25, 2017, a burst of violence on a Harrisburg street corner tragically cut short the life of 22-year-old Kodi Flanagan. The young man, a Black / African American male, was shot near the intersection of North 3rd and Muench Streets and succumbed to his injuries a short time later.
The investigation into the shooting moved swiftly, and authorities soon identified two male suspects. Within a couple of days, the case saw significant progress. Dylan J.
Beard, 25, of Highspire, turned himself in to the police on the evening of Thursday, April 27th. The following day, the second suspect, 22-year-old Sidney N. Michaels of Middletown, was located and apprehended without incident by U.S. Marshals in Derry Township.
Both Beard and Michaels were charged in connection with Flanagan's death. Following their arrests, they were held at the Dauphin County Prison without the possibility of bail. The prompt arrests brought a measure of resolution to the initial phase of the investigation into the violent death of the young Harrisburg man.
