On January 15, 2023, 18-year-old Roy Marcelo Alas Guevara was fatally shot at the Vista Villa Apartment Homes on Barrington Drive in east Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred around 9:37 p.m., when multiple gunshots were fired into several apartments and vehicles within the complex. Responding officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) found Guevara suffering from a gunshot wound; he was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
