On March 5, 2023, at approximately 2:15 p.m., High Point Police responded to a report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 3700 block of Eskdale Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Michael S. Brown Jr. with a fatal gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Anthony T. Oliver, fled the scene before police arrived. The following day, March 6, officers received reports of Oliver being spotted near a residence on Eskdale Drive. After a brief foot pursuit, he was apprehended around 10:00 a.m. on Densbury Drive. Oliver was subsequently charged with murder and booked into the Guilford County Jail in High Point without bond.
According to authorities, this incident is considered isolated, and there is no ongoing threat to the community. The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances leading up to the shooting. No further details have been released at this time.
