Maurice Donnell Hagler, a 33-year-old African American male, was tragically killed on December 12, 2014, in High Point, North Carolina. The incident occurred during a crowded house party on Wise Street. Maurice, who was a promoter for a special events center, was shot in the upper torso. Emergency workers transported him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The investigation into Maurice Hagler's death revealed that two unknown suspects fled the scene immediately after the
shooting, which appeared to be a robbery. Despite the efforts of the High Point police, little suspect information was available, and the case remained unsolved.
Maurice's mother, Audria Hagler McIntyre, expressed her deep sorrow and frustration over the loss of her son. She often wondered if she was speaking to someone who might have been involved in the crime or had knowledge about it. The pain of losing her son was compounded by the fact that the perpetrators were still at large, living free while her family continued to suffer.
On the first anniversary of Maurice's death, his family gathered at the site of an Adopt-A-Road sign named after him in front of Grace Church on Enterprise Drive. They held a ceremony to honor his memory and to generate new leads in the investigation. The High Point police shared information about the ceremony in an attempt to encourage anyone with information to come forward.
Despite the passage of time, Maurice Hagler's murder remains one of the four unsolved homicide cases in High Point from that year. The police continue to urge anyone with information to contact them, hoping that someone will eventually do the right thing and help bring justice to Maurice and his family.
