Deanthony J. Little, a 17-year-old African American male from High Point, North Carolina, tragically lost his life on September 15, 2019. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when police responded to reports of gunshots in the area of Brentwood Street and Nathan Hunt Drive. Upon arrival, officers found Deanthony lying in the road with a gunshot wound to the head. Despite efforts by police and fire officials to render aid, Deanthony was transported to a hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Deanthony was a former student at High Point Central High School until 2018, but he did not graduate. On the night of the incident, he was in a car with two other individuals, 17-year-old Khasi L. Gladden and 20-year-old Kameron L. Turner, both of High Point. The trio was reportedly involved in an argument with another vehicle, which led to an exchange of gunfire between the two cars. During the altercation, Deanthony was shot, and his companions removed him from the vehicle and left him in the roadway before driving away.

Khasi L. Gladden, who was also shot in the shoulder, was found on the 400 block of Lawndale Avenue and taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Gladden, who had multiple outstanding warrants, was subsequently taken into custody. Kameron L. Turner, who suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the elbow, was found during a traffic stop on Interstate 85 Business south, near I-74. He was also treated and released from the hospital.

The investigation revealed that the incident was not random, and the individuals involved were known to each other. Police found a silver Hyundai, which was reportedly involved in the shooting, with a large amount of blood and a handgun inside. Another firearm was discovered on the 300 block of Lawndale Avenue.

Isaiah E. Rorie, a 24-year-old male, was identified as a suspect in the shooting. Rorie turned himself in to the police and was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Deanthony J. Little, as well as two counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill. Rorie appeared in court for his first hearing following his arrest.

The tragic death of Deanthony J. Little highlights the devastating impact of gun violence and the importance of addressing the underlying issues that contribute to such incidents. The investigation into his death continues, and anyone with information is encouraged to contact the High Point Police Department or Crime Stoppers of High Point.
