On July 25, 2023, eight-year-old Jenesis Dockery was at her babysitter's residence in Fayetteville, North Carolina, when she sustained a gunshot wound to the head. The babysitter's 11-year-old son had reportedly obtained a firearm and, under circumstances that remain unclear, discharged it, resulting in Jenesis's critical injury.
