On October 21, 2023, at approximately 5:50 a.m., deputies from the Wake County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported shooting in the 1720 block of Riverview Road near the Neuse River Trail in Raleigh, North Carolina. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 24-year-old Abad Candela Robles, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound.
The investigation led to the arrest of 20-year-old Marvin Gasga-Camacho, who was charged with murder and concealment of death.
Authorities allege that Gasga-Camacho attempted to dispose of Robles' body by dumping it into the river. He was taken into custody and is being held without bond at the Wake County Detention Center.
In the wake of this tragedy, Robles' family has sought support for funeral expenses through a GoFundMe campaign. His brother described Abad as someone who was full of life, loved his family and friends, and leaves behind a one-year-old daughter.
The case remains under active investigation by the Wake County Sheriff's Office. No further details have been released regarding the motive or circumstances leading up to the shooting.
