On October 23, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., 15-year-old Shamar Leverette was shot near Moore Square Middle School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was found with critical injuries in a gravel parking lot on South Person Street and was immediately transported to WakeMed Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Leverette succumbed to his injuries on October 29, 2023.

The Raleigh Police Department swiftly arrested 22-year-old Steven Stanley in connection with the shooting. Initially charged ...
