He was found with critical injuries in a gravel parking lot on South Person Street and was immediately transported to WakeMed Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Leverette succumbed to his injuries on October 29, 2023.
The Raleigh Police Department swiftly arrested 22-year-old Steven Stanley in connection with the shooting.
Initially charged with assault with a dangerous weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a felon, Stanley's charges were upgraded to include murder following Leverette's death. He is currently held in the Wake County Jail without bond.
