On October 23, 2023, at approximately 2:45 p.m., 15-year-old Shamar Leverette was shot near Moore Square Middle School in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was found with critical injuries in a gravel parking lot on South Person Street and was immediately transported to WakeMed Hospital. Despite medical efforts, Leverette succumbed to his injuries on October 29, 2023.
