Donald Hilton, a 32-year-old male, vanished from ordinary routines in Waikiki between the end of a work shift and the silence that followed. He was last seen on October 28, 1991, at his workplace, Alfred’s Restaurant in Waikiki, and two days later—on October 30, 1991—he was found dead inside his Waikiki apartment on Kaiulani Avenue. 
Investigators reported that Hilton had been beaten to death, turning what should have been the privacy of home into the scene of a killing.
The timeline the police have made public is spare but haunting: a last confirmed sighting at work, then a gap, then the discovery of his body in his apartment. 
In the wake of the homicide, police released sketches of two persons of interest they wanted to question. Those images were pushed out to the public in hopes that someone would recognize a face and place it in the days around Hilton’s death, but authorities said the effort produced only limited results at the time. 
Decades later, the case remains listed by the Honolulu Police Department among its cold cases from 1991, and the department’s public summary does not describe any arrests, charges, or court outcomes connected to Hilton’s killing. Instead, the listing continues to emphasize the same core need it had at the beginning: identifying the two persons of interest and finding someone who can fill in what happened between October 28 and October 30, 1991.
