In the early hours of August 25, 1991, Santiago Dela Cruz and his girlfriend Aradina were fatally shot while sleeping in their car on a secluded road in Honolulu, Hawaii. The assailant, identified as Clarito Ganal, had been involved in an altercation with the couple earlier that evening. Ganal, armed with a rifle, fired a single shot into the car, killing Santiago instantly and injuring Aradina, who tragically succumbed to her wounds later at the hospital.
