On December 15, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) responded to a call in the 5600 block of Paces Glen Avenue in east Charlotte. Upon arrival, they discovered 18-year-old Lonnie McConico Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second individual, whose identity has not been disclosed, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and self-transported to a local hospital for treatment.
