Carlos Darden, a 42-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on November 18, 2017, in Goldsboro, North Carolina. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning when gunfire erupted on Second Street. Officers responded to the scene around 2:50 a.m. after hearing shots fired. Shortly after, three men, including Carlos Darden, arrived at Wayne Memorial Hospital with gunshot wounds.
Unfortunately, Carlos Darden and another victim, Carlis Benton, 38, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital, while the third victim, Joshua Davis, 30, sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The Goldsboro Police Department launched an investigation into the homicides of Carlos Darden and Carlis Benton. Joshua Davis, who was injured in the same shooting incident, was later arrested and charged with two counts of murder in connection with their deaths. Davis was apprehended at a hotel in Garner and was held at the Wayne County jail without bond. He was scheduled to appear in court following his arrest.
The investigation revealed that the shooting took place at 605 Second Street, and the victims arrived at the hospital in separate private vehicles.
