On April 21, 2024, at approximately 12:25 a.m., the Statesville Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a gunshot victim at a residence in the 600 block of Stewart Court in Statesville, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered 52-year-old Richard Wayne Pledger, known affectionately as "Pumpkin," inside the home with multiple gunshot wounds.
