Jeffrey Robert Peck, a 52-year-old man from Statesville, NC, died unexpectedly on December 16, 2007. He was a resident of Sandy Avenue and was associated with Kewaunee Scientific Corp. Jeffrey Peck was a member of the Native American Indian Squeamish Tribe and enjoyed NASCAR racing and watching football and baseball games.
Jeffrey Peck's death was part of a tragic double murder at a Shell gas station on Broad Street in Statesville.
On the same day, Jennifer Vincek, a 29-year-old store clerk, was also killed. The perpetrator, a teenager named Ramseur, was later found guilty of the murders. According to police reports, Ramseur shot Jennifer Vincek after she gave him cash from the register and then shot Jeffrey Peck as he attempted to make a 911 call.
Ramseur was sentenced to death for the first-degree murders of both Jennifer Vincek and Jeffrey Peck. The trial began on May 19, 2009, and concluded with Ramseur's conviction on December 16, 2009. The case was prosecuted in Iredell County, North Carolina, and the jury found Ramseur guilty on two counts of first-degree murder.
Jeffrey Peck is survived by his son, Jeffrey Robert Peck Jr., his daughter, Jennifer Irene Peck, and five grandchildren. His family and friends continue to remember him fondly and honor his memory.
