Leon Tremaine Bradshaw, a 38-year-old African American male, tragically lost his life on August 30, 2015, in Statesville, North Carolina. On that fateful morning, Statesville Police officers responded to a call at the 1000 block of Wilmington Avenue around 5:00 a.m. Upon arrival, they found Leon Tremaine Bradshaw lying in the doorway of a residence with a gunshot wound to his chest. Despite being transported to Iredell Memorial Hospital, Bradshaw succumbed to his injuries.
The incident also involved Bradshaw's brother, Deleon Carshaw Dalton, who was shot in both of his legs. Dalton was taken to the hospital for treatment. Despite numerous witnesses being present at the scene, the case initially went cold after months of investigation. However, in January 2019, a new detective was assigned to the case and began re-interviewing potential witnesses. These interviews led to the identification of Okiera Donnell Myers as a suspect in the case.
On March 8, 2019, Statesville police arrested Okiera Donnell Myers in connection with the murder of Leon Tremaine Bradshaw. Myers was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. The arrest brought some closure to the four-year-old cold case, highlighting the persistence and dedication of law enforcement in seeking justice for the victim and his family.
