On June 7, 2024, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, 7-year-old Zion Arym Gibbs was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting while inside his home on Danish Drive. Multiple rounds were fired into the residence around midnight, with one bullet striking Zion. He was transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he succumbed to his injuries three days later.
The investigation led to the arrest of 19-year-old Sierra Adrianna Chambers from Wagram.
Initially charged with felony accessory after the fact in October 2024, her charges were later upgraded to first-degree murder and felony conspiracy to commit murder on November 21, 2024. Chambers is accused of assisting the primary suspect by concealing the vehicle used in the shooting—a black Chrysler 200 with distinctive features—and attempting to alter its appearance to evade detection.
Further developments in December 2024 resulted in the arrest of 20-year-old Antori Kennith Jessigh Porter of Fayetteville. Porter was charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in connection with Zion's death. A tip from a concerned citizen identified Porter as the shooter and linked Chambers' vehicle to the crime. Both suspects are currently held at the Cumberland County Detention Center without bond.
Investigators have determined that Zion and his family were not the intended targets of the shooting, emphasizing their innocence in this tragic event. The firearm used, a 9mm Glock, was recovered during a traffic stop in Winston-Salem on August 24, 2024, and has been forensically linked to the crime. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to seek justice for Zion and his family.
