On August 16, 2024, at approximately 3:00 p.m., Wilmington Police Department officers responded to an emergency call at Aspire 349, a student housing complex located on the 4200 block of Academy Cove in Wilmington, North Carolina. Upon arrival, officers discovered 23-year-old Otis Taylor deceased at the scene from gunshot wounds. Another individual was found critically injured and was transported to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for treatment.
