In the early hours of a Monday morning, the quiet of a Wyandanch, New York neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire that claimed the life of Herby Legros, a 45-year-old man from the area. The incident occurred on January 2, 2023, inside a residence on South 29th Street where Legros was visiting friends. He did not reside at the house but was a guest at the time of the fatal shooting.
Suffolk County police responded to a 911 call shortly after midnight, discovering Legros with
gunshot wounds to his abdomen and chest. Despite the immediate response, his injuries proved to be fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities reported that a dispute inside the house escalated, leading to the shooting. At the time of his death, Legros was a father to eight children.
