Keith Martinez Wright Jr., a 29-year-old African American man from Fayetteville, North Carolina, and a soldier stationed at Fort Bragg, tragically lost his life on July 23, 2022, in Pinebluff, NC. Wright was fatally shot during a large gathering in the 200 block of Primrose Path in Pinebluff, just before 3:30 a.m. Four other individuals, including Wright's mother, were also shot but survived their injuries.
Following the incident, Moore County Sheriff Ronnie Fields announced the arrest
of Malik Anthony Williams, 25, of Greensboro, NC, on July 26, 2022. Williams was charged with one count of first-degree murder and taken into custody without bond. The investigation revealed that Williams was present at the gathering and was identified as the shooter. Sheriff's investigators continued to work on identifying additional witnesses who were present at the time of the shooting.
