On the evening of March 5, 2023, the community of the Manors Apartment Complex in Pomona, New York, was disturbed by the sound of gunfire. In the parking lot of the complex located on Route 202, 33-year-old Eric Justin Quiñones was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds. The incident, which occurred around 7:00 PM, prompted a response from the Town of Haverstraw Police Department.
Emergency personnel provided aid to Quiñones at the scene before he was transported to Nyack Hospital.
Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the hospital. Quiñones, a Hispanic male, was a resident of Pomona and was born in Suffern, NY.
The Haverstraw Police Department, with assistance from the Rockland County Sheriff's Department, is actively investigating the shooting as a homicide. The area was secured with crime scene tape as investigators gathered evidence. The shooting has left the community, which is home to many families with young children, shaken. Despite the ongoing investigation, no arrests have been made, and authorities have not publicly identified any suspects. The case remains unsolved, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
