Albert Ventura IV, aged 22, was tragically killed on August 5, 2018, in front of his home near Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The incident occurred when a group of masked assailants attempted to rob Ventura and his father, Albert Ventura III. The elder Ventura heard a suspicious knock at the door that night and, upon stepping outside, was confronted by multiple armed individuals. An argument ensued, and the younger Ventura came outside to meet the attackers.
The situation quickly escalated, resulting in the assailants opening fire. Albert Ventura IV was struck by 13 bullets, nine from one gun and four from another, leading to his death. His father was also injured, taking a bullet to one of his legs.
The investigation into the murder led to the arrest of three individuals: Lazaro Michael Valdes, Zachary Rooney, and Eric Javon Hall. Valdes, who was 16 at the time of the shooting, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, and attempted robbery. He received concurrent sentences of 25 years for the murder charge, 15 years for the attempted murder charge, and five years for the attempted robbery charge. Rooney and Hall also faced charges of first-degree murder, attempted robbery, and attempted first-degree murder. Rooney was sentenced to 20 years in prison, while Hall received a 40-year prison sentence.
The case revealed that the assailants had targeted Ventura, who was known to sell marijuana from his home. The attackers had planned the robbery, with Hall acting as the "bag man" and Rooney as the getaway driver. The group included three other males, identified in arrest reports as assailants 1, 2, and 3. The tragic event highlighted the dangers associated with illegal activities and the devastating impact on the victims' families. The legal proceedings brought some measure of justice to the Ventura family, but the loss of Albert Ventura IV remains a profound tragedy.
