Shoni Nielle Sanders, a 22-year-old woman from Philadelphia, PA, tragically lost her life on November 7, 2019. She was fatally shot while answering the door of her home on the 5800 block of Walton Avenue in the Cobbs Creek section of West Philadelphia. Sanders was shot at point-blank range, suffering a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite being rushed to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, she was pronounced dead that evening.
The incident occurred around 7 p.m., and when police arrived, they found Sanders inside the doorway of her residence. Acting Philadelphia Police Commissioner Christine Coulter stated that it appeared Sanders was the intended target, as three rounds were fired through the front door using a small caliber semi-automatic gun. Sanders' 4-year-old son and other family members were inside the home at the time but were not injured.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with Sanders' murder, and the motive remains unclear. Detectives are continuing to canvass the area for surveillance video and are urging anyone with information to come forward. The case remains unsolved, and Sanders' family is still seeking answers to bring her killer to justice.
