Lennin Taveras, a 36-year-old resident of the Bronx, New York, tragically lost his life on June 30, 2018. Taveras was at his girlfriend's home on University Avenue near Morton Place in the Morris Heights neighborhood when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred around 10 p.m. when his girlfriend's ex-husband, Angel Freites, climbed up the fire escape, entered through a window, and shot Taveras multiple times.
