In the early morning hours of May 25, 2023, the life of 33-year-old Cody Toledo was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in Brooklyn, New York. The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. at the intersection of Linwood Street and New Lots Avenue, just a short distance from where Toledo resided.
Responding to the scene, officers from the 75th Precinct discovered Toledo with a single gunshot wound to his chest.
He was immediately transported to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in critical condition. Despite the efforts of medical staff, he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
At the time of the initial reports, the circumstances leading up to the shooting remained unclear. The New York Police Department had not released a description of any potential suspects, and the shooter was reported to be at large.
